Announcement about the Multicultural Committee

Hello! April is Celebrate Diversity Month, which started in 2004 to recognize and honor the diversity surrounding us all. We would like to share a message from our Member at Large TJay Middebrook about our new Multicultural Committee:

Hello MADC members!

MADC board continues to work towards recognizing and removing racism from our organization and community. Minnesota has a beautiful BIPOC Deaf/HH/DB community and MADC is committed to creating a safe space and giving a platform for our BIPOC D/HH/DB members. With this in mind MADC would like to announce a new committee for multicultural members.

MADC’s multicultural committee will be identifying areas of concern, and creating events, workshops and awareness campaigns about the BIPOC D/HH/DB community.

The committee aims to recognize and uplift unique experiences of D/HH/DB people of different cultural backgrounds. The purpose is to help others understand and appreciate various perspectives of BIPOC experiences and voices.

If you have a desire to come and use your voice in creating spaces for different culture identities, please join us by contacting our committee chairperson TJay Middlebrook at tjay.middlebook@minndeaf.org

We’re excited for this opportunity and look forward to making a change in D/HH/DB and serving the best interests of our community as a whole.
